Help, tips and FAQ for ISSF Coach — the ISSF pistol coaching session tracker.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of ISSF Coach

⚙️
Fill in Settings first

Open the Settings tab and enter your name, club, default range, TPA Coaching ID and accreditation expiry once. Every future report will use these details automatically.

Log between relays

Tap + on the Sessions tab during a break, set type, location, attendees and topics in a few taps, and save. The whole flow is designed to take under a minute.

🏷️
Tag your topics

Tick every topic covered (Stance & NPA, Grip, Trigger Control, Mental Performance, Safety…). They appear in the report and help you see which areas you focus on over time.

📊
Check Stats monthly

The Stats tab shows totals (sessions, attendees, coaching hours) plus a breakdown by ISSF coaching type — perfect for end-of-month grant or accreditation reporting.

📧
Email your council

Use "Email Report to Coaching Council" from the Stats tab — the report includes a summary plus a full CSV attachment of every recorded session.

⚠️
Watch TPA expiry

Settings shows a coloured badge for your TPA expiry — green when valid, orange within 60 days, red when expired. Reports flag expiring/expired accreditation automatically.

📚
Use the Library

The Library tab includes both the ISSF Pistol Competition Rules reference and a coaching-tips library you can filter by athlete skill level — a quick reference during sessions.

📤
Share to any app

If your device doesn't have Mail configured, "Share Report" opens the system share sheet so you can send the summary + CSV via Messages, Files, AirDrop or any installed app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is ISSF Coach for?
ISSF Coach is built for shooting coaches working under ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) rules — at club, state and national level. It is particularly suited to Australian coaches working under VAPA, Shooting Australia and TPA accreditation pathways, but works for any ISSF-affiliated coach.
Which coaching types are supported?
16 ISSF coaching categories are built in: 10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Rifle, 25m Sport Pistol, 25m Rapid Fire, 25m Standard Pistol, 25m Centre Fire, 50m Free Pistol, 50m Rifle 3 Positions, 50m Rifle Prone, Shooting Fundamentals, Dry-Fire Practice, Mental Performance, Competition Preparation, Safety Briefing, Junior Development and Range Officer Training.
What's in the report sent to the coaching council?
The email body contains your coach details (name, club, location, TPA Coach ID and expiry), the period covered, totals (sessions, attendees, coaching hours), a breakdown by coaching type, and a list of recent sessions. Attached is a CSV file with one row per session containing every field — date, type, skill level, duration, location, attendee count, topics covered, attendee names and notes.
How do I change the recipient council email?
Open the Settings tab and edit the "Coaching council email" field. The default is a placeholder — replace it with the email address used by your council. It's saved and applied to every future report.
What is the TPA Coaching ID for?
It records your coaching accreditation reference number so it appears on every report you send. Pair it with the TPA expiry date and ISSF Coach will warn you when your accreditation is within 60 days of expiring, or flag it as expired in reports.
Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics. Reports are only transmitted when you tap Email or Share — and they go through your device's own Mail app or share sheet. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I back up my sessions?
Enable iCloud backup in iOS Settings. ISSF Coach data is included in standard device backups. You can also send a report to yourself any time — the attached CSV is a complete history of every session.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The app requires no internet connection to record sessions, browse the coaching library, or read the ISSF Pistol rules. You only need network connectivity when sending an email report — and that's handled by your device's Mail app.
Does the app run on iPad?
ISSF Coach is currently designed and optimised for iPhone running iOS 17 or later. iPad support may be added in a future release.
Is the rule data the same as ISSF Rule Check?
ISSF Coach includes a compact rules reference for all six ISSF pistol events — quick facts, equipment, course of fire, range commands and common faults. For a deeper field reference (RO run mode, role checklists, full equipment tables) see our companion app ISSF Rule Check.
Is ISSF Coach affiliated with ISSF, Pistol Australia, VAPA or TPA?
No. ISSF Coach is an independent companion app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the International Shooting Sport Federation, Pistol Australia, the Victorian Amateur Pistol Association (VAPA), or any coach-accreditation body. References to TPA are for compatibility with Australian accreditation workflows only.
